The Power of Letting Go
Have you ever felt like you’re constantly pushing against a closed door?
Like the harder you try to fight a situation, the more it sticks to you?
Maybe you’ve felt trapped — in a job you dread, a relationship that drains you, or a conflict that won’t end.
You long for peace, yet life feels like a battlefield.
What if true power doesn’t come from fighting — but from laying down your arms?
What if peace is not something you win, but something you allow?
Welcome back to Frequency Chapters, where we explore Florence Scovel Shinn’s timeless classic “The Game of Life and How to Play It.”
Today we’re diving into Chapter 4: The Law of Nonresistance, enhanced with a Solfeggio frequency called Peace, to learn how to overcome any obstacle by aligning with higher power.
Resist Not Evil
The scriptures teach:
“Resist not evil.”
“Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.”
The Chinese say that water is the most powerful element because it is perfectly nonresistant.
It flows around obstacles, yet wears away stone.
Nothing can resist a person who embodies absolute nonresistance.
When we resist something, we give it power.
When we release it, it dissolves.
Resistance breeds torment.
Nonresistance breeds peace.
To practice this law is to become like water — powerful, adaptable, unstoppable.
The Illusion of Two Powers
What we call “evil” is born of man’s vain imagination — a belief in two powers: good and evil.
An ancient legend says that Adam and Eve ate from Maya, the Tree of Illusion, and began to see duality instead of one divine source.
Evil, therefore, is a false law — a creation of human thought under the influence of what Shinn called psychoma, or soul sleep.
This is the hypnotic state of believing in sin, sickness, and death — illusions that we ourselves outpicture into our external lives.
As within, so without.
Whatever we feel deeply, we experience outwardly.
The sick man pictures sickness; the poor man, poverty; the rich man, wealth.
The Power of the Subconscious
Children, sensitive and impressionable, often “outpicture” their parents’ fears.
A mother who constantly watches for illness may unconsciously invite it.
A metaphysician once said:
“If you do not run your subconscious mind yourself, someone else will run it for you.”
But the person established in right thinking — who sends out only goodwill — cannot be touched by negativity.
They are surrounded by harmony because they radiate it.
Baptizing Every Event “Success”
Resistance is hell — it puts you in torment.
One metaphysician offered a simple formula for winning the game of life:
“I no longer baptize children; I baptize events — and I give every event the same name: Success.”
When failure comes, don’t fight it — rename it.
Baptize it in the name of your Creator.
This is the great law of transmutation — turning apparent failure into divine success.
The Woman Who Blessed Her Adversary
A woman who understood spiritual law found herself in business with a man who made her feel poor.
He spoke constantly of lack and limitation until she began to absorb his energy.
Then she realized — she was resisting him.
She was seeing two powers instead of one.
So she blessed the man and baptized the situation Success!
She affirmed:
“As there is only one power — God — this man is here for my good and prosperity.”
Soon after, through that very man, she met a woman who gave her several thousand dollars for a service rendered.
The man moved away peacefully, and her prosperity flowed unhindered.
Every Person Is a Golden Link
Say aloud:
“Every person is a golden link in the chain of my good.”
All people are God in manifestation, waiting for the opportunity to serve the divine plan of your life.
Bless your enemy — and you disarm him.
His arrows turn into blessings.
This law applies not just to individuals, but to nations.
Send goodwill to all, and you rob hate of its power.
Nonresistance Is Not Weakness
Many students tell Shinn, “I don’t want to be a doormat.”
She replies:
“When you use nonresistance with wisdom, no one will ever be able to walk over you.”
True nonresistance is strength — not surrender.
When Anxiety Blocks Your Blessing
Shinn tells of a day she impatiently waited for an important phone call.
She resisted every incoming call, afraid to miss the one she wanted.
Hours passed in tension — until she noticed the phone receiver had been off the hook the entire time.
Her anxiety and belief in interference had created the very blockage she feared.
Realizing this, she blessed the situation and affirmed:
“I cannot lose any call that belongs to me by divine right.
I am under grace, not under law.”
Soon the call came through.
Our “ships” arrive only over calm seas.
Agree With Thine Adversary Quickly
As long as you resist a situation, you remain bound to it.
Run away, and it follows you.
A woman once told Shinn:
“I disliked my mother, so I ran away and married — only to find my husband was exactly like her.”
The scripture says:
“Agree with thine adversary quickly.”
See the situation as good — be undisturbed — and it will dissolve by itself.
Say aloud:
“None of these things move me.”
When there is no emotional response to discord, the discord fades forever.
Change Yourself, Change Everything
People often ask, “Can you treat my husband?”
Shinn replies:
“No — I’ll treat to change you. When you change, your husband will change.”
Life is a mirror.
We find only ourselves reflected in others.
Life Is a Mirror
One student had a habit of lying.
Shinn warned her, “If you lie, you will be lied to.”
The woman didn’t care — until she discovered that the man she loved was lying to her.
Shinn reminded her:
“You lie yourself, so you must be lied to — especially by the one you most want truth from.”
Life reflects our consciousness with perfect accuracy.
Living in the Now
Living in the past is a failure method — a violation of spiritual law.
Bless the past and release it.
Bless the future and know it is filled with joy.
But live fully in the now.
Be spiritually alert and responsive to divine guidance.
Start Each Day with Power Words
Begin each morning with an affirmation.
“Thy will be done this day.
Today is a day of completion.
I give thanks for this perfect day.
Miracle shall follow miracle, and wonders shall never cease.”
Make this a habit and watch your life transform.
Look with Wonder
One morning, Shinn read: “Look with wonder at that which is before you.”
She repeated it throughout the day.
By noon, a large sum of money she had desired came to her unexpectedly.
Affirmations only work when they feel true to your consciousness.
Affirmations of Success
This simple affirmation has brought success to many:
“I have a wonderful work, in a wonderful way.
I give wonderful service, for wonderful pay.”
A student who sang this aloud soon received wonderful work in a wonderful way.
A businessman changed “work” to “business” and made a $41,000 deal the same day.
Every word carries creative power.
Choose them carefully.
The Success Age
It is your divine right to have plenty — more than enough.
Your barns should be full and your cups overflowing.
When you break down the barriers of lack within your own consciousness,
